South Wales Fire and Rescue Service heralded Team of the Year
The award was made to honour the incredible achievement of the Service in hosting the UKRO Caerdydd 2018 Challenge event in September. The 12 month project culminated in a brilliant four day event that saw 600 firefighters compete in Trauma, Water, Extrication, Rope and Urban Search and Rescue Challenges showcasing the very best in rescue skills and techniques from Services across the UK.
The event was hailed as one of the most successful UKRO challenges to date and saw thousands of people flock to Cardiff Bay to experience the challenges as well as visit an action packed Super Safety Village promoting safety messages and the work of over 90 partner organisations.
Our South Wales Fire and Rescue Service team worked tirelessly to stage the event, bringing together staff from across the South Wales Fire and Rescue Services, UKRO and many partner agencies.
Group Manager Shaun Moody, Lead Coordinator for the UKRO Caerdydd 2018 event said: “It is a tremendous honour for us to receive this award which recognises the fantastic work of all the project team and the commitment shown by everyone at South Wales Fire and Rescue Service who together ensured UKRO Caerdydd 2018 was such a success.”
UKRO Caerdydd 2018 proved to be a unique opportunity to unite staff at South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, utilising every department to support and develop the project. All proudly shared an exceptional commitment to using the weekend of events to continue making a difference to the organisation and the communities of South Wales.
