  • Doors to the stairway should also be a fire door with a self-closer. It should be always closed. If there are issues, please report this to your building manager.
  • Keep hallways and stairs clear of all obstructions.
  • Never charge electric vehicles in hallways or blocking your exit
  • Fire exits should be unlocked, with clear paths leading to it and adequate signage.
  • Dispose of refuse correctly
  • Each floor and door should have clear signage.
  • There should be a refuge area for those with disabilities to await rescue safely.
  • Everyone in the building should know where to access information regarding the building’s evacuation procedure and fire safety plans.

Report any building issues to your building manager. If these issues are not rectified after a reasonable amount of time, please report a fire safety issue to our business fire safety department – firesafety@southwales-fire.gov.uk
