Fire in Crossways Cowbridge

At approximately 11:23pm on Sunday 19th May 2019 South Wales Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a fire in Crossways, Cowbridge.

Crews remain at the scene as they continue to deal with a large developed fire involving approximately 400 tons of clothing awaiting to be recycled.

Firefighters are working quickly in challenging conditions, alongside our emergency services partners including Natural Resources Wales, South Wales Police, Welsh Water and the local authority to ensure the fire is managed and does not spread to adjacent buildings.

At the height of the fire there were nine appliances in attendance, equipped with crews who are continuing to work swiftly and safely with minimum disruption to local businesses and homes.

Nearby residents are being advised to avoid the area and to keep their doors and windows closed due to accumulating smoke.
