Firefighters tackle HGV fire involving 17 tonnes of domestic appliances and lithium batteries
At approximately 9:27am on Tuesday the 30th of August 2022, crews were called to the scene of a vehicle fire Eastbound on the A465.
Crews from Merthyr, Ebbw vale, Pontypridd, Pencoed and Maindee Fire and Rescue Stations attended the scene alongside emergency service colleagues and partner agencies,
Upon arrival, crews discovered the trailer of a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) was fully involved in a fire.
The trailer contained approximately 17 tonnes of domestic appliances and and lithium batteries.
Crews used specialist equipment, including hose reel jets and ladders, to extinguish the fire and dampen down deep seated hot spots.
