New Chair and Deputy Chair appointed to South Wales Fire and Rescue Fire Authority
Following the Welsh local elections on 5 May 2022, the 24 members who make up the South Wales Fire and Rescue Authority have just been announced at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
At the AGM, members elect the Chair and Vice Chair of the Fire and Rescue Authority, the Chairs and Vice Chairs of Committees, and appoint members who will represent each Committee. The 24 Fire and Rescue Authority members include 14 new appointments.
Councillor Steve Bradwick of Rhondda Cynon Taf Borough Council has been elected as the new Chair, having served on the Authority for 15 years, with ten years as Deputy Chair. The new Deputy Chair is Councillor Pam Drake of Vale of Glamorgan Council.
Councillor Steve Bradwick said:
“I am extremely proud to be elected as Chair of the Fire and Rescue Authority, the first councillor from Rhondda Cynon Taf to achieve this.
14 new members have been elected to this new iteration of the Authority, and I am very pleased that there is a good gender balance across the senior Authority roles.
I look forward to working with all members of the South Wales Fire and Rescue Authority and the officers to govern, scrutinise and steer the work of the Service in protecting our communities.”
