New Inn Station is temporarily relocating to Mamhaild Industrial Estate

Plans are in place for New Inn Fire Station to temporarily relocate to Mamhilad Industrial Estate, on Friday 15th November 2024.

Construction is underway to build a new, modern fire station on the current site of Station 33, New Inn.

During this period, the crew will be temporarily relocated to allow Firefighters to continue serving the area, without interruption to the quality or speed of emergency response.

The decision to temporarily relocate ensures that the safety and wellbeing of the community remains a top priority.

Scott Reed, Station Manager, commented: “While we are excited about the improvements the new station will bring, our commitment to protecting the community remains unchanged. We want to reassure the public that during this temporary move, the team is fully prepared to respond quickly and effectively to any emergencies that arise.

“We have carefully assessed travel times, access to main routes, and response strategies, confirming that the relocation will not impact on the level of service or availability of our crews.”

Benefits of the move

The new station, once completed, will bring significant benefits to both South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the wider community, including:

  • Enhanced facilities for firefighters: The new station will provide improved facilities, training areas, and equipment, allowing our team to maintain and further develop their skills to better serve you.
  • Modernisation for better service: Upgrading the station infrastructure will support SWFRS’s commitment to delivering effective, efficient, and resilient emergency services.
  • Sustainability: The new building will incorporate energy-efficient systems and environmentally friendly designs, reducing the carbon footprint of operations in line with SWFRS’s sustainability goals.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during this time of positive development.

Updates of the progress of the station will be shared via the Service’s social media channels.
