South Wales Fire and Rescue Service appoints new Director of Corporate Services

The Chair of South Wales Fire and Rescue Authority, Steve Bradwick said:

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Geraint Thomas to the role of Assistant Chief Officer, Corporate Services.  This follows a rigorous recruitment process including an assessment centre, an interview with the Executive Team and an interview with Members of the Fire and Rescue Authority. Geraint, who has worked for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service for over 22 years, has been in the role on a temporary basis since June 2021. I would like to congratulate Geraint on his appointment to the role and look forward to continuing to work with him. ”

Geraint started with the Service in March 2000 as an Accountancy Technician. With support from the Service he qualified as an Accountant in 2005. Other roles in his career with the service have been Management Accountant, Finance Manager and as Head of Finance, Procurement and Property a member of the Senior Management Team since 2009.

The Assistant Chief Officer of Corporate Services role covers Media and Communications, Performance Planning, Information Governance, Finance, Procurement, Property, Sustainability, Legal and Insurance and Business Support, and is also the Monitoring Officer and Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) for the service.
