South Wales Fire and Rescue Service staff help deliver vaccinations in the fight against Covid-19
Due to the identification of new Coronavirus variants emerging throughout the world, the Welsh Government have made the decision to step-up the vaccination campaign, in particular the booster vaccination roll out.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service staff are continuing to volunteer and offer support within vaccination centres across South Wales. Staff who are experienced and skilled in areas such as first aid and trauma care will also now be administering the vaccines to assist Local Health Boards in the fight against Covid-19.
The vaccination will be predominantly delivered by all three Local Health Boards (LHB); Cardiff and Vale UHB, Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB and Aneurin Bevan UHB at the Community Vaccination Centres.
Chief Fire Officer Huw Jakeway QFSM said: ‘We are working in partnership across a wide range of areas to ensure the very best level of protection, prevention and response our communities. I am extremely proud of those who have stepped forward to offer support during these unprecedented and challenging times. The safety of our staff is vitally important and are working closely with The National Fire Chiefs Council to ensure all risk assessments clearly set out how we will keep our people safe while carrying out this work. This support will be delivered in the existing spirit of partnership and collaboration shared across the emergency service family in Wales.’
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service are continuing to closely monitor all guidance and advice issued by the Welsh Government, UK Government and Public Health Wales in relation to the Covid-19. Together we are united in our dedication to be there for our communities and keep the people we serve safe.
